we'll get to play a whole new gorilla game figuring out who the new gorilla is going to be.

I would love to find a new Gorilla in the Mist, Jim, but I think Linux and Java will always be chimps. If they can put some pressure on softy to improve their product, great!

As has been said before on this thread, the goal of gorilla gaming is to get high returns TOGETHER WITH high safety--and for the present, at least, Rambus just doesn't cut it.

Those are my sentiments, T-boy. I have never liked the fact that Rambus is a "one trick pony", with its future controlled by Intel. Also, it does not "cross the chasm", IMO, until it had shipped and had accepted a lot of its product. Just too risky. For those who like to play the risk, it may be a good buy. I bought Intel the first time just after the chip recall, at one hell of a good price, in retrospect.

Gemstar looks terrific, except for the lawsuits! The courts are a risky business in this county, and the company is in real trouble if they lose a major suit. I hope that those of you who believe they will win are right, but I have seen some unbelievable outcomes on lawsuits of this nature in this country.
