This editorial caught my eye for two reasons; first because Newsweek editorials often sum up what the powers that be would like us to think, and second because the writer seems to swallow the official Russian view hook, line, and sinker.

newsweek.com

What is your informed opinion (as opposed to my uninformed one). Is it true that "Chechnya is becoming very much like Afghanistan: a base for Islamic radicalism and terrorism — and for drug smuggling and other criminal activities"?

The writer seems to assume that a radical Islamic state is already in place in Chechnya.

Are we being prepped to accept a Russian invasion?

How much of the trouble in Dagestan is the result of Chechnya-based interference, how much the result of internal friction?
