[IR lags and AWRE's wins]

<<<Numerous times I have heard investor's in Amtx say, they call IR and don't receive a response, yet you have unlimited access, or so it would seem. I called IR fri. at about 2:00 their time, so far I have not received a response. Why does Amtx respond so well to your requests, while other shareholders must wait, if Amtx responds at all?>>>

Tom --

I don't think the real question is why I get my calls returned as much as why others don't. For me, I've built up a relationship and besides being a major shareholder, I think RC likes and respects me as a person. As for the IR department, besides the fact there isn't one, I know the guys who cover for it were in meetings most of Friday, but why calls haven't been returned on other occasions, I don't know. I do know it doesn't make me happy. I'd like to see them hire a full-time IR director. As it is now, Tac, who's marketing director, covers whatever calls he can and farms the rest out to RC.

Secondly, why is Aware making all these alliance's, pacts and contracts with formidable networking cos. if Amtx has the better technology, hopefully the ans. is because of it's relationship with Csco, or perhaps it is more complicated than that, I just can't understand, how Awre partnering with all these cos., bodes well for Amtx. >>>

Take a look at Aware's partnership agreements. None to my knowledge are exclusive. They have nothing to lose by signing. The giants like USRX are still positioning themselves. They've tried several times to squash the little guys and it looks as though they've succeeded with Aware. Contrary to what some think, DMT is not easy to replicate without using Amati's technology. Alcatel's discovered this as has Orckit. So has Aware. They're all claiming ANSI-standard DMT and that means they're going to have to talk to Amati at some point.

My very biased opinion is that USRX will not put out a non-standard solution. Based on their experience with 56K, I believe they'll smarten-up. I know everyone's screaming, "First to market wins. . . first to market wins. . . first to market wins. . ." But perhaps the paradigm is different this time. And I'm not referring to any one company as much as to writing your own codes from scratch or putting out CAP vs. DMT. Telcos are hesitant to install a technology that's non-standard if they know they only have to wait 3 or 4 months for the standard---which not too incidentally is far superior, dollar for dollar, foot for foot, megabit for megabit.

Bottom line is that USRX will have to talk to Amati again, and when that happens, I hope they have a new understanding of "fair and equitable."

Just my take.

Regards,

Pat
