My high school graduation was all white formal dresses.

College was more normal, the usual cap and gown thing. However, it was held at a nearby Unitarian church, which was not air conditioned, so many of us graduated wearing nothing but skimpy underwear beneath the robes. And we history majors had hoods as well....
