Old National Files Shelf to Sell $200 Million of Securities

Washington, Sept. 22 (Bloomberg) - Old National Bancorp filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell as much as $200 million of junior subordinated debentures and capital securities.

The capital securities would be issued through a series of trusts, according to an SEC shelf filing. The Evansville, Indiana- based bank said it would use proceeds from the sales to repurchase stock, repay debt and for general corporate purposes, including possible acquisitions.

The shelf filing lets Old National register the securities in advance and sell them from time to time as financing needs arise. The terms of the securities are generally available at the time of the sale.

Salomon Smith Barney may underwrite the securities sale.

Old National describes itself as a bank holding company that operates 119 banking offices in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. It also owns subsidiaries that provide consumer finance, brokerage and other services.

Old National shares fell 1/8 to 28 15/16.
