A Funny thing, BLUE....I was thinking about you this AM, and wondered about those golden quakin'aspen in the Rockies....there was something on TV showing them yesterday...It looked glorious!! Welcome back and LOL about your conversation/s with your brother and HS....Have been out of commission for a couple days with a flu bug of some sort, so have had some time to just think...And Peach, missed you! Looking forward to hearing more about Thoreau...

Re "Mr. Ballmer"... dumb like a fox.....of course there is more to it..IMO...wonder how many spinoffs they will have?

I do wonder though, how many of the 'analysts of Wall Street' have really looked into the history of the last 20 years....So many people seem ready to throw big darts at the Tech and INet startups....and yet....has anyone wondered just where we would be as a country economically if it were not for Microsoft....and all the follow-on business related to the software/hardware industry....

Wonder if there is a way to see what companies were listed on the DOW 20 years ago, and what rate of return they have given to investors over that time.

Wonder if there is a way to know just how many people that those same companies employ then, and today....versus the number of substantial new jobs (not just low paying service jobs or temp jobs...but regular full time jobs) that have been created because of companies like IBM, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, Microsoft, Lotus, Costco, Starbucks, Amazon, Intel, AOL, @Home, of course GNET, etc etc etc...

Wonder just what the economy would look like if it were not for the new companies that have been created in the last 20 years....we didn't have faxes, cell phones, email, internet, videos or VCR's, software, and any number of other things that have helped the economy be where it is.....

While we can't say it was all because of Microsoft....I wonder what companies like Boeing, Ford, the railroads, timber, etc woulda, shoulda done....(and still woulda, shoulda, IMO....)

Does anyone know of any research like this that has been done? Surely some of the Business Schools must have....but???

Anyhow, glad to be back! It's totally beautiful today in Seattle (at least it is right now.....heheheh)
909's and some 8's too......thanks Carolyn!
