Stephen Manes is just another ZD hack (or former ZD hack) playing Microsoft pocket pool. Ho hum.

Star Office isn't as polished as MS Office, but its compatibility is good enough for 90% of users, most of whom neither use "professional-looking" single-quotes as apostrophes nor write macros. Grabbing the desktop is a bad idea. Right-click not working is a bug. So?

This column, like so many others, basically says: "Sun took a step toward a goal, and everything didn't instantly change the same day, therefore what they did was completely invalid." Makes sense, huh?

How many similar articles could have been, and have been, written about every software release M$ has ever put out? How many service packs are we up to again on NT? Which release of MS Windows, and how many years, was it before people stopped laughing?

You can do better than this, twister. An easy cheap shot from a member of the ZD press is the same as nothing at all.

Regards,
