Datek index quotes have never been reliable, Infostream. I don't understand why they can't even get this fundamental and simple thing right. They've had this problem for months, and must be well-aware that the problem exists. Yet it persists.
It is absolute folly to pay any attention whatsoever to Datek's index quotes - when they become "stuck" on the previous day's closing quote, you can be fooled into thinking the market is 100 points up when it is 200 points down.
I've been trading at Preferred Capital Markets lately, and have been very happy with them. While their Nasdaq executions are slower than Datek, their server is MUCH more reliable. And, anyway, I primarly trade options now, which it appears that Datek will NEVER do. (Promised now for a couple of YEARS...) Preferred's option executions are SUPURB, and their Delta Trader Pro software keeps you informed in real-time of the exact state of your order. Their option executions are as fast ALL THE TIME as Datek's NASDAQ trades are ON A GOOD DAY.
So, I've sent Datek a check request for my balance. Actually for my balance minus 0.01, because the software wouldn't let me request the balance, saying it was more than I had in the account. They can't even get THAT right - a rounding issue, I suppose.
Of course, I am keeping my Datek account open, as I suppose many other have, to take advantage of free, unreliable quotes.
No further complaints from me about the quotes, though - you gets what you pays for! :) |
