Election-99: Fourth day of polling over The fourth of five days of voting in the general election in India has ended, with reports of a low to moderate turnout and a few incidents of sporadic violence in the 79 parliamentary constituencies which went to the polls. Security had been tightened in a number of parliamentary constituencies across the north and north-east of the country..... The final result of the election will not be known until early October - but opinion and exit polls indicate a victory for the governing party, the BJP. Voting took place in part of Uttar Pradesh (UP),parts of Madhya Pradesh (MP), Bihar,the northern states of Manipur,Mehalaya,Mizoram and Nagaland.(139 MPs to the 545-member parliament)..... hindustantimes.com
