It appears Iraq's oil infrastructure really is collapsing, as someone suggested way back in February. They have GOT to be desperate to do the below.
Iraq Prepared to Hold Talks With U.S. Oil Firms, AFP Reports
Baghdad, Sept. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Iraq says it is prepared to negotiate with U.S. oil companies over plans to develop the country's largely untapped reserves of crude oil, despite recent diplomatic and military hostilities between the two countries, Agence France Presse reported, citing Iraqi Deputy Oil Minister Taha Hummud Mussa. ``Iraq has no objections to having talks with U.S. oil companies, if they show themselves willing,' he was quoted as telling AFP at the opening of an oil industry fair in Baghdad. Iraq, the subject of United Nations sanctions, is holding discussions with a group of foreign oil firms, including Russia's OAO Lukoil Holding and France's Elf Aquitaine SA, to help raise money needed to boost oil production capacity.
On Wednesday, OAO Lukoil Holding, Russia's largest oil producer, said it will negotiate the schedule of works at an Iraqi oil field this week as the company tries to rescue its $80 million contract in the country, delayed by UN sanctions. |
