Dipy, the issue is not if this guy is dumb - it is that he is such an irresponsible SOB, (even after MSFT got sued for antitrust reasons by US Govt. with AOL, Netscape, ORCL as witnesses!) - to drive it to hundreds of small companies that are trying to survive and make a buck. After his reckless statement, MSFT comes up with a $ 2 increase in its internet access charge to $ 21.95 to match AOL, so that all the 800 pound Gorillas like MSFT, AOL, YHOO make humongous profits in this ever expanding internet market, while small chip/semis and hi-tech companies get whacked more! If it is calculated move by him to bring down the price of some attractive takeover companies, then the US Govt. and the Judge have to really hand it to him in their pending suit - split him to pieces to make it amenable for others to compete with MSFT!
