The "out of phase" remark was meant to apply to your comment about Intel dependence on Rambus, Mike. I see rmbs as totally dependent on Intel... well, maybe not totally, since they seem to have developed a niche in the game market. But if they are to be in the midst of a full fledged Tornado, it would only be the result of Intel's sponsorship.

The semiconductor business is the most innovative arena in the technology sector, and Next Generation stuff is ballyhooed every month. ADI's announcement of a Next Generation gsm chip set is a great example. Unfortunately, the vast majority of these discoveries turn out to have some limitation in application, cost effectivity, or manufacturability.

Sorry if I appeared contentious, teach, but I was concerned the thread was drifting from the theme of low risk/reward investing.
