Of course every dollar they take away from the patient or the doctors, nurses, and other providers, is a dollar of 'added value' here on wall street. I have avoided these companies as well, but the execs have been buying this one, and they usually are in a position to know something the rest of us don't. They can't profit on their inside knowledge for at least 6 months, however, so I am in no great hurry. I agree that the whole medical thing is not on a very sound footing right now. It is is always hard making money while irritating both your customers and suppliers. And that is what the HMO industry and other companies seemed to have done in spades. Of course they have legal immunity for the responsibility that they have assumed, and the havoc they have reaped, so perhaps they can get away with it.
