John, Agree with poor coorelation.

I follow the sentiment indicators also, but have found them to be reliable only sometimes. There have many instances when i thought that the sentiment was too bullish and expected a market downturn, only to a see a rally and even higher bullish sentiment. My guess is like most indicators, sentiment works sometimes and fails in others.
