I was being nice because I actually actually like the publication. I'm just incredulous that they allowed themselves to be used as tools by the likes of a Barbra Streisand, and then won't even fess up to it when asked whether or not it was true.

Whether they admit it or not, they also screwed their subscribers. As a supposed reward to loyal subscribers, the company held a lottery prior to the IPO and lucky winners were given an opportunity to receive an allocation of IPO shares. I thought even before they notified me that I was not to be one of the chosen that this was borderline inappropriate given the stated mission of the publication, but the fact that they reduced the pool available by giving shares to a multi-millionaire diva who now poses as an investment guru is more than I can stomach.
