mark, tried all those proposed solutions from real audio and still have the same problem. It is very strange that I used to be able to play real audio, but cannot now, so I need to find out what has changed. The other odd thing is that I can play music on the windows media player without any problems. Also, I have some problems with other wave files and would have strange sharp noises in other applications, such as IE5, Word and Quicken. I turned off some of the wave file. Finally the last strange thing that is happening to my computer is that it is playing the local radio station all the time. However when I put on JAzz FM most of the other station goes away.

Although the above sounds like an X-file case, if might be solved with rebuilding the computer, which has not happened in seven years.

Thanks,

David
