Excellent work on reading USTI from an historical perspective, Piper. I like that sort of thing. . .gives you a handle on how things stack up. . . and very much helps to predict the future.

The wrenches in the works went like this. . .

I believe the spike on May 14, 1998 came when Joe Copia discovered this little stock. . .he had me do some serious DD on it to make sure it was legit. . .and he started the thread on SI. . .and word spread like wildfire. . .the stock popped. . then settled back.

And since this stock never seems to release news outside its quarterly filings, a whole lot of nothing happened afterward. The spike that came February 2, 1999 I don't recall well. . .I remember discussing another stock. . .PLCO perhaps on the "whiz kid's" board. . .then at the very end of the post saying something like, "the only other stock like this is USTI." . . . and suddenly the thing took off. . I guess the folks on that thread were buying whatever was mentioned back in February.

The March 30, 1999 spike I remember better. . . it had been preceded by enormous buying volume at or near .05 about 2 weeks before hand. . .then the pumping came on no news. . .this was a pretty large and well organized group of pump and dumpers. . .as you know, all news comes through quarterly filings, so there was no news. . .On this board and I believe on the USTI board, I had to refute their hype and suggest it be "played" only as a position trade only. . .from .05 to .08 cents. . . back and forth. . .offering liquidity.

By not siding with the hypesters that were touting that it was going to the moon. . .I made a few new enemies. . .what else is new? . . . and their pump and dump was mostly thwarted. . .they were forced to sell most of their shares around .07. . .although they did dump a few hundred thousand at .12 and .09 as I recall, from seeing large blocks on the trading logs. I never sold a single share. . . instead, I believe I bought more when it finally fell all the way back to a nickle again. . . and still have them. They had enough shares, that they could have dumped all the way to a quarter or higher. . . which would have been terrible for the stock.

There were a few other smaller spikes that were brought on by false rumors from penny stock chat rooms back in the summer of 98. . .Microsoft buyout rumors come to mind. While USTI shareholders would welcome such a move, it doesn't seem likely after all this time with such excellent products out in the marketplace.

Hope this "Memory perspective" helps shed some light on the historical one.
