I went to a local CompUSA store (Novi, MI) and found a "DVD/VCD/CD Player" for sale for $179.99 (after rebate). It was the Raite AVPhile 711, made by Raite Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. of Taiwan. The tag stated that the regular price is $229.99.

On the back it had: Digital out - SPDIF; Line out - VIDEO 1 & 2, AUDIO L & R; Video Output - S-VIDEO. It listed 10 bit 27 MH Video and 24 bit 96 KHz Audio, D/A conveter (sic), FWIW.

I didn't open it up, but I'm wondering whether it has an ESST DVD chip in it, since ESST's recent news release listed Raite as a customer.
