CMGI On Tap: Internet holding company and jack-of-all-trades
CMGI Inc. (CMGI) reports its fiscal fourth quarter Monday. Wall
Street expects the company to report earnings of $4.08 a share,
which includes a big gain on the sale of Yahoo stock. Such a gain
would be excluded from operating results at other companies, but
many analysts argue that it belongs in the operations of CMGI.
"That's what its operations are all about," First Albany Corp.
analyst Ullas Naik tells UpsideToday. "It's considered an
investment vehicle."

Naik upgraded CMGI to "buy" from "accumulate" on Friday, and
he expects the company to surpass his Q4 revenue estimate of $51
million. Also, he expects that CMGI will provide an update on its
upcoming purchase of AltaVista from Compaq Computer (CPQ)
during its earnings conference call, as well as brief analysts on
other company holdings.
