I guess AMD wasn't stupid enough to come out with a processor that requires a new type of motherboard/bus AND new type of RAM.

Those folks at Intel sure do know how to introduce a practically new platform. Who knows, everything may be ready within the next few quarters!

As far as AMD and DRDRAM, AMD announced they licenced the technology. At JC's page, he posted that someone saw at an AMD presentation they are working on a chipset which supports DRDRAM. Using hindsight, AMD is being smart here.
