Brightpoint and Digitel Enter Into Distribution Agreement Within Venezuela
INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 1999--Brightpoint, Inc. (NASDAQ:CELL - news) announced that its subsidiary, Brightpoint de Venezuela, C.A. and Corporacion Digitel, C.A., have signed an agreement under which Brightpoint will provide outsourced logistics services related to wireless handsets and accessories for Digitel's distribution channels. Brightpoint will perform product acquisition, inventory management, kitting and technical services.
Digitel is a telecommunications company, which offers basic, rural, and mobile telephony using the European standard GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) for the Venezuelan central zone in the 900 MHz Band. Digitel is the first telephone operator in Venezuela that operates a 100% digital telecommunications network. Digitel promotes the social, commercial and industrial development in areas of the central zones of Venezuela.
