Hello Scott,
I couldn't agree with you any less. I still use Windows for Workgroups on my workstation, both at home and work and will port it to Windows NT soon...not Windows 95.
However our opinion does not change the marketplace much and especially so the large corporations that are moving in mass.
Boeing, EDS, GM, Smith Barney, company I currently work for, Allied Signal etc... are upgrading in the thousands. Whether the upgrade is to Windows 95 or Windows NT, it is still big $$ for MSFT. They have a winner on their hands and the best thing is NO competition.
Also keep in mind that new third party applications are being written for these two O/S and NOT Windows 3.11. Don't you think that this will force Windows 3.11 fans to eventually upgrade ?
Win 95 or Windows NT, Powerpoint, Office 95, Excel, MSFT SQL, Visual Basic, Word, flight simulator, encyclopedia, MS network, Exchange etc.... MSFT is making billions which will further their R&D churning out newer products.
Hype or no hype, their growth says it all. MSFT has made it. Bill Gates deserves at least a pat on the back for having accomplished so much in so little a time. he is still under 45 and the richest business person in the world (next to the Berkshire Hathaway guy).
