-- Wal-Mart Canada will officially unveil four new Wal-Mart stores on
Friday October 1 in Montreal, Winnipeg and the Ontario cities of
Trenton and Cornwall, the retailer announced today, September 27, 1999.
The four new stores will bring Wal-Mart Canada's total to 163 stores
nationwide and will grow the company's employee base to more than 39,
000. Together the four new stores will employ more than 800 Wal-Mart
associates.

"Positive consumer response to Wal-Mart in every region of Canada is
allowing our company to expand steadily," said Dave Ferguson, President
and CEO of Wal-Mart Canada. "We continue to work diligently each day to
earn the loyalty of customers across the nation, one customer at a
time, one store at a time."

The four new Wal-Marts will be officially grand-opened on Friday
morning. In keeping with Wal-Mart policy, each store will make a large
donation to a local charity before opening its doors to the public.

According to Mario Pilozzi, Senior Vice-President of Merchandising and
Sales for Wal-Mart Canada, "Each new Wal-Mart store will house more
than 70,000 products and a broad range of specialty services. Those
specialty services include: a Wal-Mart Pharmacy; full-service Toronto
Dominion Bank; McDonald's Restaurant; Portrait Studio; One Hour Photo
Lab; Vision Centre; and Tire Lube Express Auto Centre."

Montreal Wal-Mart will unveil a new 125,000 square foot,
free-standing store at Decarie Highway and Jean Talon Boulevard.

- In Cornwall Wal-Mart will officially unveil a new 125,000 square
foot,

a.m.
