Richard and all, [edited] a very frustrating formatting problem exists for me when replying to an SI post. I type text and then preview. Inevitably some lines come out much longer than others. Then I go to the end of a long line [in edit mode], hit 'enter' and find the cursor just before a blank character on the next line. Deleting the blank fixes the problem. This is time consuming, but necessary for a post to look half decent. I use IE5.

Also, after hitting 'enter' the cursor goes to the beginning of the next line. Now I paste an URL and find
the last word in the previous line has been pulled down.
