More good news for Lycos(are you listening CBS?)......Fidelity, Lycos to offer enhanced Internet service
BOSTON, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Fidelity Investments said Monday that it was offering its customers enhanced Internet services in partnership with Lycos Inc (NasdaqNM:LCOS - news).

Fidelity, the largest U.S. mutual fund company, said the new services will be offered under the ``Powerstreet' name, a new brand which will be supported by a an extensive print and broadcast advertising campaign.

The service also extends an alliance with Marketwatch.com Inc (NasdaqNM:MKTW - news), Fidelity said.

Gary Burkhead, president of the Fidelity Personal Investment & Brokerage group, told reporters in a telephone conference call that the service will deliver sophisticated tools for active investors and also help customers develop their financial planning goals such as retirement.

``We are working to create the most personalized experience on the web for our customers,' Burkhead said.

Fidelity executives declined to discuss the financial terms of its partnership with Lycos. They also declined to discuss the advertising budget for their Powerstreet campaign, which kicked off over the weekend with a series of ``teaser' ads hinting at the arrival of a new investment product.

Promotion for the new service will include offers of Free Palm VII wireless handheld devices made by 3Com Corp (NasdaqNM:COMS - news) and free pagers in conjunction with BellSouth Corp (NYSE:BLS - news).
