You sound like Reagan's biographer, Edmund Morris! I watched part of 60 Minutes interview with Morris last night.

According to Morris, Reagan wanted to join the Communist party when Reagan was a young man. The Communist party thought Reagan was a flake and wouldn't have anything to do with him.
