In all due respect...even the pro can't answer your question. If it was better...why then did Tern shells out money to OEM another company's modem that use the conventional method as the other 85% of the market uses? "serious advantage"....if it was serious, the other 85% of the cable modem market should just pack up and license from Tern. Like any technology, when hundred of millions are already spent in upgrading plants, companies are not likely to switch over night even if something is "better".
