I knew a guy back in 1976 that had an AC Cobra. A real one. He paid <five grand> for it. This was the small block, the 289 I think it is.

He took me for a ride in it one time. We got to the first light, and he said, "Put your head back."

I said, "Yeah, right. I used to own a 1940 Ford with a hemi in it, go ahead and give it your best shot there, champ."

I shoulda paid more attention. That friggin' vehicle snapped my neck like wishbone on Thanksgiving. Sucker went 0 to 60 in like 2.8 seconds. Time I got my head back to normal, we be goin' 110 down this street in Cambridge, Mass. Then he braked.

I said to myself, "Self, this is the hottest car you ever done rode in. I wonder what the big block is like."
