briand et al: Before this gets out of control, it should be made clear that CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technology is owned by QCOM & needs to be distinguished from the S-CDMA technology (S=Symmetric) developed by TERN. The former is used today in wireless communications, the latter is a terrestrial technology offered exclusively by TERN to MSOs who wish to provide 2-way Internet traffic over the cable platform which consists primarily of co-axial copper rather than fiber. S-CDMA is to supposed to be effectively in eliminating unwanted noise or interference that typically diminishes the quality of upstream traffic over co-axial lines. As I understand it, S-CDMA is an effective solution for the MSO that is unable or unwilling to undergo the necessary capital expense of deploying an architecture consisting of fiber-to-the-node, from which co-axial loops make their way by customer premises. Happy Harry, confessing to brilliant at times, can educate himself more effectively by going to TERN's website @ terayon.com rather than asking not necessarily "dumb" questions here.
