I agree but there are a lot of books about WWII... it seems like one historical period where you can actually get more information now vs. having lived through it. Of course thats not quite the same thing, I know, but interesting anyway. I learned some things from reading Lindbergh's biography last year... come to think of it, the book I'm reading now is WWII (Gravity's Rainbow)... lol if you know what that is about... <gg>

On recent history in general, I was enlightened by someone recently about McCarthyism. He had friends in top positions at Los Alamos... apparently when the russian rockets worked and ours did not the scientific community felt there was a real chance that the Soviets were going to send a rocket into space and bomb the USA from there. This after the Rosenbergs and China and all that... a real climate of fear. It put a face on McCarthyism I never thought about before, in contrast to WWII there isn't much written on the perspectives of the time....
