flodyie,
Perhaps the only two real "names" currently at mp3.com:
mp3.com
mp3.com

I know of a couple of other "name" artists that are also talking to mp3.com.

Where it is true that mp3.com does not own the technology, it is similar in concept to compact disks, cassettes, 8-track, vinyl, the question is whether or not MP3 will be the next compact disk and whether or not MP3.com will have the talent to be successful.

Mp3.com has a name that will be one of the first found if one is looking for mp3 downloadable music. To succeed, they will need to be able to sign artists...and pay them. Music artist are looking for ways to release their music through alternative paths because the traditional labels have contracts that border on slavery and the artist ends up without the rights to their music in many cases.

The real money that can be made by popular artists is through royalties from ongoing radio play. Again, most of the time, the label will have the rights to the music and it is the label that gets the cash. MP3 does not address these issues right now, but the artists that they are talking to are specifically looking to help mp3.com to find a solution here. The artists want out of the control from the traditional music publishing paradigm. This will help to drive downloadable music. But, they will have to have a viable way to pay the artists to succeed, on this we agree.

Does it mean that MPPP is a risky investment? Absolutely.

Does it mean that MPPP is trying to rip off the public? Sounds like hyperbole to me.
MPPP<----absolute garbage and the Buy rating is joke intended to rip off the public, as usual.
