[DMT complexity]

based on limited knowledge about DMT, but a reasonable
background in signal processing, this is my take on the 'DMT'
wars:

1) AMTX has a standard which must be adhered to if an
ANSI/ETSI compliant product is to be developed.

2) AMTX will not make alot of money on licensing DMT, they
wouldnt have obtained the standard if they did.

3) DMT is elegant and relatively trivial in conception, but
the devil is in the details. Based on what I know about
AWRE, they are nowhere near as technically advanced
as AMTX in DMT xDSL. That doesnt mean that they're
not capable or that they won't make money. I think that
USRX and PAIR have severely underestimated the technology
required to make a good DMT ADSL product. I don't
think they can get competitive technology from AWRE.

4) We'll see how things shake out when/if the $%#@
chips become available. Pat did RC say when CG
was going to be delivered to AMTX? Are they sweating
it right now? I would be.
