I don't know whether you get the British comedy TV show "Being Served" on your PBS station, but what you just wrote reminds me of it. There's a character on the show, Mr. Rumboldt, who plays the fool in charge; he often delivers lines of the form, "Your idea of xxx isn't really very good, buy my idea of xxx- is just the thing that's needed."

JMHO, even now.
