Hong Kong, Sept. 28 (Bloomberg) -- America Online Inc., the world's biggest Internet service provider, teamed up with China.com Corp., one of the few Asian Internet companies listed on the Nasdaq, and China.com's affiliate China Internet Corp. to launch an Internet service in Hong Kong called AOL Hong Kong.
The service is the second Asian Internet service offered by Dulles, Virginia-based America Online, which already offers service in Japan, and represents its first move into the Chinese- language Internet market.
AOL Hong Kong has contracted with StarEastNet.com to provide exclusive content to its service. The website www.stareastnet.com is run by Star East Information Technology Corp., a unit of Hong Kong-listed Star East Holdings Ltd.
Pacific Century Cyberworks Ltd., a company controlled by Richard Li Tzar-kai, said it will buy a 20 percent stake in Star East Information Technology. |
