Ohshaw,

I'm aware of Nasal Ease. It has been discussed on SI and Yahoo several times over the past few months. I haven't used it and can't tell you if it works but I can tell you that Zicam isn't simply zinc gluconate in a bottle. The patent pending matrix is key to its efficacy and the inventors at Gel Tech tried approximately 40 different formulas before they found one that worked. The proprietary patent pending matrix in Zicam helps the zinc stay attached to the epithelium. In addition, zinc ions will not adhere to the epithelial cells unless their charge is affected by the matrix. This may explain why other nasal sprays containing zinc gluconate aren't as effective as Zicam or don't work at all.

I'm surprised that you can't find Zicam in Palo Alto. I thought Albertsons had stores in that area of the country. Zicam is also available at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Rite Aid, and Eckerd to name a few of the larger chains. Zicam can also be ordered from virtually anywhere at zicam.com. I hope you feel better soon.

Dan
