B: ANADIGICS 3 Volt MSM-TIA Advances Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel

ANADIGICS has announced the AMT128503 MSM-TIA for use in 850-nm
Gigabit Ethernet (1.250 Gb/s) and Fibre Channel (1.064 Gb/s)
applications. The AMT128503 front-end receiver operates from a +3.3 V
supply (+/- 5%) and offers system designers high sensitivity, high
responsivity, low power consumption and a minimum bandwidth of 1000
MHz.
The AMT128503 is a monolithically integrated metal-semiconductor-metal
(MSM) diode and transimpedance amplifier (TIA) that is used in the
front end of a fiber-optic communication system to convert optical
signals into electrical pulses. The device exhibits a typical
sensitivity of -22 dBm and a minimum responsivity of 1000 V/W with a
total power dissipation of about 120 mW, making it a significant
advance in support of new fiber-optic receiver designs. Rated for
operation over the commercial temperature range of 0 to 70 degrees C,
the device also features an on-chip automatic gain control (AGC)
circuit enabling the device to handle high optical input powers up to 0
dBm.
