TO WHOMEVER IS STILL BUYING OR HOLDING SBAM-SCAM:
PLEASE read the columns by Don Bauder in the SD Union-Tribune, available online at uniontrib.com, for the dirt on Stella Bella. Then, get out while you can!
Recap: Stella Bella sells vitamin-enriched coffee in La Jolla, CA, and markets diapers and Mexican food in Russia. Its stock sprang from the shell of a failed gold-mining company, and is largely owned by mysterious foreign investors in the Bahamas. Its chief financier, Steven Zubkis, is a failed pet shop entrepreneur with rumoured ties to the Russian Mafia, who now faces imminent arrest from numerous investigations into this stock scam.
Below are selected highlights from Don Bauder's expos‚s: (These are in addition to the 02-Jul-1996 column linked in Rick Slemmer's post #3).
(1) 29-Oct-1995 "Coffee stock hot? Financier's past is grounds for suspicion" Steven Zubkis, the majority owner of Stella-Bella, is under investigation by the SEC for numerous violations of federal securities laws. In particular, Zubkis' other company, Z3 Capital Corp, was hyperaggressively telemarketing Stella-Bella stock at a large discount to the market price, with wild claims about expected 550% annual returns. Zubkis describes himself as "the next "Warren Buffet [sic]".
(2) 28-July-1996 "Lawsuits, investigations multiply for Stella Bella owner" Stella-Bella is being probed by the SEC, NASD, FBI and IRS, has been dropped by the BBB, and its securities banned in several states. Its major stockholders in the Bahamas could not be identified. Stella Bella's CEO, Steven Zubkis, claims he is being persecuted, and has filed suits against many federal agencies and private entities, explaining that "all the people who fool with me, I strike them back!" On a particularly bizarre note, Zubkis claims that federal agents burst into his home and murdered his parents.
(3) 15-Jan-1997 "New York adds to ongoing woes of Stella Bella, Z3 Capital" NY's AG obtained an order preventing Z3 Capital from peddling Stella Bella stock. Steven Zubkis has been banned from the securities business by NASD. The San Diego police have joined the extensive investigation of Zubkis.
(4) 01-Mar-1997 "It's a no-show at N.Y. hearing for Stella Bella official" Zubkis and other officials of Stella Bella and Z3 Capital did not show up for their court hearing. An arrest warrant may be issued soon. The Ukrainian Zubkis claimed that reports of ties to the Russian Mafia were based on prejudice, and filed a countersuit under Title 42 Discrimination.
I hope everyone reading this thread has long ago decided to exit. I am posting this update in the hope it may help prevent future victimization.
