<<Is the tape drive report that you referenced available on the web?>>
I read that a good while ago. I believe it might have been by a company called Strategic Research which seemed very pro Exabyte but the logic made sense. Might be on Exabyte's web site.
Ecrix is a private company but has a web site that talks about their technology.
Another wild card in all of this are the LTO drives, excellent specs, two capacity/transfer rates, uncertain date of introduction but probably around Q1, 2000, probably backhitching problems and expensive. No installed base and I have heard concerns about compatability between brands since they are being separately developed around a common standard. Big players-SEG, IBM, HP and more recently, I believe Sony joined the group. -Z
