Doesn't anyone short stocks here anymore? <<
Peter, shorts banko in the last year?? That's not true!! Amzn had two very nice declines from 200 to 80 in 99. I'm not the only short that enjoyed those declines.
It was the shorts/puts of 1997 that got crushed including myself.
I currently have 1k long shares @65, hoping that between now and 1qtr results, Xmas expectations will push the pig back into the 100's.
I've also made some nice profits shorting eBay. I currently have no position on eBay, but feel it's a better short right now than Amzn.
I wish Amzn had never split! Could you imagine shorting Amzn at $1000+ per share in 2000? It would look like a baby Berk, don't you think? Most investors look at Amzn as only being a 60-70 stock. Which is cheap by new economy standards.
Ps
I've always enjoyed my Msft splits. Do you know I never worried about Msft from the getgo? Mainly because it was always profitable. How investors can continue to buy Amzn is beyond me. But maybe I'm not your average kinda guy.
