The thing I love about the school prayer discussion is that it's taken for granted that "a moment of silence" would be appropiate to ALL religions. This is such a Judeo-christian point of view, and so discriminating to NON-WESTERN religious beliefs, that it's absolutely amazing we can still talk about freedom of religion in the same breath. My son meditates every morning, in the manner of our sect of buddhism, and then goes to school. He wouldn't do this in front of his friends.........no teenager would. I don't meditate at work...it wouldn't be appropiate and it's a very personal. Does that make me a BAD person???? A Godless swine??? If so, the future doesn't bode well.
