Ed, Actually peace in the Sudan will be a benefit to Talisman- i.e. remove a cloud above their whole Sudanese Project, get rid of the perpetual threat of disruption to pipeline operations, and should nicely spike the stock price upward.

The problem now is that the $$ earned by the operations will be used by the NIF goverment to feed the war machine. The Bin Laden embassy bombings in 1998 with their Sudanese connections brought both Kenya and Tanzania back to a harsh reality of the dangers of fundamentalist Islam and into the alliance which supports the SPLA about a year ago. So even with the fighting between Eritrea and Ethiopia, the SPLA can count on a number of surrounding countries as allies, as well as a number of Scandanavian Governments.

The sum total of the above is just a bloodier stalemate- that's why a strong push toward peace is necessary and I see the will to give that "push" now forming in the highest echelons of the US Government. Let's hope the non-Gov Organizations keepthe pressure up for everyone's sake.

(OT) Now you'll get a laugh out of this knowing me, but I was in Lou Farrakhan's Phoenix,Arizona complex about a year ago. A number of my cousins are policeman in the Phoenix area. I did a "ride along" with one who works south central Phoenix, and that day by chance he got called out to Farrakhan's to investigate a prowler.

I got out of the squad car and talked with Farrakhan about five minutes whilst my cousin investigated the possible prowler. We discussed gardening techniques. The man also has a very serious car collection with a Rolls Royce and two Humvees... A small world is it not?
