I attended the AES show in NYC yesterday, saw the new Mackie 24 track hard disk recorder. It is pretty impressive, and makes the perfect addition to studios using the 8 bus digital console. There is however signifigant competition from TC, Otari, and most notably Tascam. The Tascam system at 4 grand could be the one that everyone goes for. The most impressive new disk based system however was Pro Tools 5.0

Mackie share price? Who knows, but I wouldn t bet the farm on it. I use an analog 8 buss console by the way and I love it. There is NO question that Mackie has revolutionized the low end of the pro market, and invented the mid level market.... their stuff represents amazing value and is found everywhere. Will this reflect in the share price? I doubt it. It seems to be overlooked, and unless a pinhead like Tokyo Joe starts to hype it, it will likely remain unnoticed.
