There are many people from a Judeo-Chrsitian background who use their religion for their own selfish means to an end. There are many who use it to create hatred and divisiveness.

Yes , there are and I do not deny it. There are even those with at least good intentions that cause more damage than good sometimes(I have done that myself)

Would it then be fair to paint all who come from this background as selfish and mean spirited?

I did not say anything about anyone being mean-spirited in my post, and to be fair I did not say I painted ALL with the same brush; I said "there are" I did not say "they ALL are". And I said "many follow" not ALL follow, so again I am not painting all as that way and do not mean to say that.

Let me ask you Mark, what you consider a "spiritual pursuit"?
