Has anyone considered shorting yen-denominated Japanese Treasurys? With interest rates about zero in Japan and their coin being repatriated out of US dollars it seems to me that they'll have to park a lot of cash somewhere and bills, notes and bonds would be the likely candidate. However, when the prospective bond investor considers the downside capital risk of having Japanese interest rates rising they may hold off and park the cash elsewhere. At some point interest rates will rise in Japan and shorting their bonds could be very lucrative. Is anyone familiar with the vehicles to facilitate such a trade?
