Because I see the data residing either on the server I too see data residing on a server, but I see more than one server. There is the general-purpose server fronted by SunRay, and then other Jini device servers with dedicated functionality (such as a camera, which has a disk inside, and is capable of doing some limited digital editing, and a general nonlinear editor device for the power users). Taking this to its logical conclusion, the video camera could be a SunRay server (just another kind of Jini device after all), and you could plug your SunRay directly into it. The potential is endless, only limited by our imaginations, though thankfully not by Twisters. My final thought on the future of the PC: it's just a group of Jini devices waiting to be exposed. P.
