Radarlv:The announcements correlate well with CLTK's bread and butter products: GaAs EHF signal processing and Milcom . The point to point radio order at 6Mil comes on the heals of the announcemt in Dec for an 8 mil order from PCOMS. Point to point EHF radio is growing very quickly (>35 % pa) esp in Europe/Asia and forms the backhaul to PCS and High Speed Data: its like airborne fibre optical ....CLTK is definately a leader here: expect more developements and solid growth in this technology......The MILCOM deals indicate a sustained demand and this will continue and even expand.....indications are that CLTK has expanded its presence in this niche even though they've indicated that this is a slow growth zone....truth of the matter is the military comms systems are gravitatiing toward point to point/high speed data transmission for mobile and satcom apps and good hi rel GaAs is an absolute must.....which CLTK can deliver on. ..........As for the 1.7 mil Hughes Network Deal: it would be really, really sweet to have more info on this. Hughes is in the process of negotiating an advanced, very large antenna Personal Comms satellite system deal with China....something that will compete locally in China (or be the only system allowed) with Iridium,Globalstar, ICO (all are $bil mob sat projects run by Motorola, Qcomm, Comsat...) However, whether the $1.7 deal has anything to do with this, I don't know and am only speculatiing. It is known as a fact that the Chinese HNS mob sat phones ( and indeed all mob sat phones) require L-Band PA's having in excess of 1 watt of power.......which is what CLTK produces and is noted for. Indeed, the announcement of the HNS deal is a surprise...........No announcements regarding CLTK's flagship Trinitiy PCS amp products (other than the Ericsson deal earlier this year)....a breakthrough here would set a precedence for CLTK.....and have them competing head to head with TQNT and ANAD in a very fast growing merchant semi market......Lots of intrigue and changing loyalties here: Late last year QCOM and TQNT announced a partnership to produce PA's for QCOM's CDMA PCS handsets then a couple of weeks ago ANAD announced that it shipped 1 Million units to QCOM.Who is producing what for who? Where was CLTK and their Trinity CMM1333 product line in all of this????>>>>>the word is that CLTK is still producing for the mil market rather than the consumer market. The word is that they've got to lower the costs by going to cheaper packaging for their PA's:use Plastic rather than ceramic .....anyway, they still have time to learn. Between now and 2002 something like 200 million L-Band PCS phones will be produced (not to mention excess of 5 million high cost mob sat phones). Somewhere in there CLTK should be able to carve out a niche. Note that Zacks elevated CLTK recently: estimates for yearly EPS vary from .48 to .70 $/shr...........yeh, it was a nice announcement...../////J-D//////
