OT to tito: re the fed:

This is a minority view at the Fed. Greenspan has enough authority that he gets his way. And he has said, very clearly and for a long time, that he intends to be preemptive. That is, he'll raise rates on the warning signs of inflation, and not wait till it arrives. Raising rates takes 6 to 18 months before it works to cool the economy.

The debate over the accuracy of productivity (and other) statistics has been going on for a long time, without consensus or resolution.

The surge in gold can mean only one thing: lots of people are beginning to be convinced that inflation is on its way. Why else would anyone buy gold (or gold stocks)?

Where is Justa "don't fight the Fed" werkinstiff? I know I spelled that wrong.
