News Item (Drill breaks down) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ABSOLUT RESOURCES CORP. - DRILLING TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED AT VOISEY'S BAY (97-03) CALGARY, April 7 /CNW/ - ABSOLUT RESOURCES CORP. (ALR-ASE) wishes to announce that drilling operations have been temporarily suspended on the Eastern Deeps hole due to an equipment failure involving the hydraulic system which ignited causing a fire at the drill site. Fortunately, there were no injuries. The hole was suspended at approximately 3,800 feet (1150 meters). Based on the presence of a large section of Nain Orthogneisses in the drill core, in addition to a variety of gabbro and ultra mafic rocks, it can be concluded that the stratigraphy could be suitable to host the Voisey's Bay type nickel/copper/cobalt sulphides. Lantech Drilling Services Inc. (the drilling contractor) is currently assessing the damage and if necessary, a replacement drill will be mobilized to the property as soon as possible.
