I prognosticate that the Merced and its chip sets will make this xeon and 820 stuff look like a day at the beach. I prognosticate June 2001 for working 4-way merced servers. In that prognostication I'm giving Intel and Microsoft the benefit of the doubt.

QS' PS: Wasn't it around this time last year, or maybe a month later in the year, that our good friend Dale J. was prognosticating how quickly Profusion-based servers were going to eat Sun's lunch, and how much money his "short" position in SUNW (which turned out to be some puts) was going to make him? SUNW was around 30 split-adjusted.

I wonder how come we haven't heard from Dale lately.
