Yeah, CNNfn reported that the computer manufacturers were relieved that Rambus wasn't going to be used, because of the expense. The manufacturers said that it was the cheap stuff that was moving out the door, and that trend will probably continue-forever. Today's cheap computer has all of the power that the vast majority of users will ever need, and it's only going to get better and cheaper. On top of that, there will be the millions upon millions of used PCs selling for practically nothing, or, indeed, for nothing! Many businesses are giving their old PCs to their employees. Most people simply are not going to pay for something that will only provide a modest performance boost at best. Specs usually sound impressive, but it doesn't really translate into a big difference when running bloated code, the kind of applications that most people use.
